Secretary Napolitano joined National Football League (NFL) Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich and Arlington, Texas Chief of Police Theron Bowman to announce a new partnership to bring the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) "If You See Something, Say Something" public awareness campaign to Super Bowl XLV - to help ensure the security of fans, players, and employees by identifying and reporting suspicious activity.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today delivered remarks at the University of Texas at El Paso highlighting the Department's unprecedented efforts over the past two years to secure the Southwest border by deploying historic levels of manpower, resources and technology and increasing collaboration with federal, state, local and tribal, and Mexican partners while facilitating legal trade and travel.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today visited London to meet with international colleagues to discuss ongoing collaboration between the United States, the United Kingdom and other international partners to strengthen the security of the global supply chain, including the implementation of a series of new initiatives — announced earlier this month in partnership with the World Customs Organization (WCO) — to make the system stronger, smarter and more resilient.

Secretary Napolitano announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will discontinue the color-coded alerts of the Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS) in favor of a new system, the National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS), that will more effectively communicate information about terrorist threats by providing timely, detailed information to the public, government agencies, first responders, airports and other transportation hubs, and the private sector.

Secretary Napolitano will travel to London. While there, she will meet with International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary General Efthimios Mitropoulos to discuss cooperative initiatives to increase the security and resilience of the global supply chain and bolster cargo security - including efforts to support DHS' continued collaboration with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

"I am deeply saddened by reports that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Chief Judge John Roll and others were attacked this afternoon in Tucson, Arizona. There is no place in our society or discourse for such senseless and unconscionable acts of violence. Gabby is a steadfast representative for southern Arizona and both she and John are dedicated public servants."
